Threshold for Foreigner to buy Property has dropped to 40%? Here are a few things to take note for a foreigner to buy a property in Malaysia.
As announced in the Finance Budget for the year 2020, where the Finance Minister has announced that the threshold for foreigner to buy a property has lowered down from RM1,000,000.00 to RM600,000.00 subject to the following condition.
However, Foreigner Purchaser need to take note that the threshold “discount” is only valid for 1 year which is from 1st January 2020 up till 31st December 2020 provided that the property is:-
- Not Landed Property;
Where the threshold reduction is only for High Rise Property such as (Condominium, Apartment, SOHO, Serviced Apartment and etc)
- Not new and/or upcoming projects and sub-sales property; and
Which means it only available for those property which is completed and unsold.
- Subject to the implementation on the state government
State Government has the discretion whether or not to implement this policy.
