Many agreements these days are tied up by a series of legal correspondences (instead of a contract).
The contents of letters, i.e. stating relevant important terms & conditions intended to be committed by parties and if they are signed by the sender, and at the same time, signed by the recipient/other party to the contract, acknowledging/agreeing to the content of the letter, serves as a good valid contract.
To be safe, it is best to bring this ‘letter form agreement’ to be stamped with the stamping office for a nominal sum of RM 10.00.
Many types of enforceable type of letters that serves as a good valid contracts are letter of offers signed between banks & borrowers, letter of employments between employer and employees and etc.
Sometimes, this letter form agreement may lack certain detailed terms and if certain term aren’t expressly stipulated in the letter, the contract’s act will become relevant or we have to look out for any implied terms from the contents of the letter.
